Jose Perez-Ortiz, 41, was killed around 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 1, outside a store at Shelton Street and Noble Avenue, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police

According to Jones, video surveillance in the area shows Perez-Ortiz attempting to stab a man who then pulled a gun and fired, striking him.

First responders rushed Perez-Ortiz to Bridgeport Hospital where he later died, Jones said.

Police on Wednesday, Sept. 4, released surveillance footage recorded in the area at the time of the homicide and are asking the public who recognizes the people pictured in the clips to reach out to police, Jones said.

“We need the community’s assistance in an attempt to identify theses persons as persons of interest,” Jones, said. “This video show potential suspects that Bridgeport Police would like to identify.”
